4th January 2008

It was a very competitive 2007 with second place in the overall online Poker market changing hands almost every week between Party Poker and Full Tilt Poker.

According to industry data, the New Year started with Full Tilt Poker on top with real cash players reaching almost 10,000 over a 24 hour period average. Full Tilt Poker also had a small edge of about 250 players during peak hours.

But if you consider that Party Poker no longer accepts players from the US, unlike Full Tilt Poker, it actually shows how much Party Poker has grown in the European market since moving out of the US market just over a year ago.

Party Poker is facing increased competition from two other networks that don’t accept US customers. Both Ongame and iPoker Networks have seen an influx of players over the last few months with the addition of new poker rooms to their networks.

Also worth mentioning is the drop of Bodog Poker from the top ten poker rooms based on their daily averages. A new sign up bonus and aggressive marketing in Europe has the folks over at Bodog Poker hopeful for the arrival of new players.

As it has been the case for the last year or so, PokerStars is the market leader with double the number of players as second place Full Tilt.
