Poker Betting Strategy: A Winning System of Aggression

Submitted by Onlinepokerzine on February 13, 2010 – 10:09 pmNo Comment

A common and expensive problem for beginner and intermediate amateur poker players is an irrational fear of betting when a stronger hand is possible based on the board cards.  Regardless of their opponent’s betting pattern and betting actions, many amateur poker players fear betting in these situations because they automatically assume the other guy was just slowplaying them with a monster or stuck around with bad odds and finally hit his draw.  Many of these amateur and beginner players figure, incorrectly, that if the board makes a monster hand possible, despite evidence in the betting that suggests their foe is not strong, they should put the brakes on any betting, inviting better players to bluff them or get a cheap showdown with a marginal hand, sometimes resulting in losing a pot that an aggressive poker betting strategy would have won.  Playing a good hand weakly, preflop or on any other betting round, can cause an amateur a number of problems.  Not executing an aggressive poker betting strategy or system can mean an amateur poker player may win less Winning Hand
money than he should have (since he refrained from betting), or lose a pot he should have won (by allowing a free card after checking his option on the previous betting round).  This beginner or amateur mistake is repeated over and over by inexperienced amateur poker players who are too timid to use a winning poker betting strategy based on a poker system of mathematical analysis and probability.

An aggressive poker betting strategy is essential in an amateur poker player’s winning poker system.  Some professionals may choose a  more cautious system of betting and use their poker system or poker betting strategy to keep the pot small in certain situations, but an amateur poker player should employ a poker betting system or betting strategy that puts pressure on his opponents, especially with reasonably strong hands. Just as a system of betting over aggressively with weak hands and frequent bluffs can be disastrous, so can paranoia that interferes with the execution of one’s poker betting strategy system, just in a different, but still very real, way.   Proper strategy involves a system of betting that dissuades others from chasing draws by betting enough to give them incorrect odds to do so.  Yet some amateur poker players  do not use the betting structure and system to their advantage, either because of a lack of fundamental strategy or a fear of betting and losing.  Fear, without evidence of an opponent’s strength, cannot prevent a good player, amateur or otherwise, from using an aggressive poker betting strategy or system.  In fact, not betting correctly as part of a winning online poker strategy system indicates to sharks that an amateur or recreational player is among them, resulting in the amateur losing even more.  Very often winning is the result of betting, so do not be intimidated out of betting when you believe you are winning.

Poker is a game of probability and psychology.  Sometimes, despite our best efforts and a winning strategy, we will lose, even with strong hands that were winning a race.  It happens, and their is no system or program or strategy to avoid the luck factor.  Amateur poker players must account for this in their poker system and strategy.  This is normal, not just for amateur poker players, but for professionals also.  Amateur poker players must account for this in their poker system and strategy. The important thing to remember, though, is that using the betting structure and system to your advantage by executing a winning and aggressive poker betting strategy often prevent big hands from being cracked.  Amateur players must use a system and strategy of betting the hand that is likely best now.   This is a crucial part of one’s poker system and very important to make money playing online poker.

Proper poker betting strategy entails using a system, based on math and probability, to make it too expensive for opponents to draw.  The point here is that all amateur poker players must realize that betting good hands, even with other possible draws and quality hands on the board, serves several purposes in a winning strategy or system.  The first is that a poker system and strategy of aggressive betting represents strength, sometimes causing other players to fold winning hands that they would normally play aggressively, betting and raising all the way.  In this event, an aggressive poker betting strategy or system has helped you win with the worst hand just by using an aggressive poker betting strategy or system.  The second thing a winning poker betting strategy or poker system does is force others to sometimes fold holdings to aggressive betting that would improve to win had they called.  In other words, the aggressive poker betting strategy or system gave them poor odds to draw, and made them give up what would have been the winning hand.  The third thing a winning poker betting strategy system does is maximize the amount you win, which is the main goal of any poker system and the purpose of the strategy.  Aggression is the hallmark of a winning betting strategy!!!

Using an aggressive, winning poker betting strategy system as part of your winning online poker system or strategy is essential to the serious amateur who aims to make money.  If you plan to call, then it is usually better to do the betting.  This is a key point to a winning online poker strategy system, and, as a rule, all players, amateur and professional, should be betting their good hands and folding lesser ones.  That is good strategy, and a cornerstone of a winning poker system or strategy system!!!
